The short answer
The label reports a small rise. On average, resting heart rate went up by 4 to 5 beats per minute on Foundayo against half a beat on placebo, and heart rate side effects were reported by 3 percent of people against 0.9 percent. The Medication Guide asks you to tell your provider about a very rapid heartbeat.
What the label says
From the labelTreatment with FOUNDAYO resulted in a mean increase in heart rate of 4 to 5 beats per minute from baseline compared to 0.5 beat per minute with placebo.
And, in the same passage, heart rate adverse reactions, the label's grouping for heart rate increased and sinus tachycardia, were reported in 3 percent of people on Foundayo and 0.9 percent on placebo.
Two numbers, then: the average shift, a few beats, and the share of people for whom it became something reported, about one in thirty.
What the label asks you to do
Report it. The Medication Guide lists a very rapid heartbeat among the signs of a serious allergic reaction, alongside swelling and trouble breathing, and asks for medical help right away in that case. A resting pulse that has crept up a few beats is the average effect the label describes; a heart that races is the thing to call about.
What people actually do
The watch generation notices this effect first. People describe a resting heart rate a few beats higher on their wrist within the first weeks, and ask whether it is the tablet. The label's number says it likely is, and says nothing more. What people also describe is the confusion between this small rise and the pounding heart of a day with too little water or food, which the label's dehydration warning covers from another direction.
Oolite does not read heart rate. Its journal keeps how the day went, so that a symptom that keeps returning is a line on a chart rather than a feeling, and the number on the watch has a date next to it at the next appointment.
Questions people ask
Is a faster pulse dangerous?
The label reports the rise and the rate of reported effects; it does not call the average rise dangerous, and it asks patients to report a very rapid heartbeat. A watch that shows a resting pulse a few beats higher than before is what the label describes. A racing heart is what it asks you to report.
Does it settle?
The label does not describe the course over time. It gives the average change from baseline and the share of people with a reported effect.
Is it the same on the Wegovy pill?
The Wegovy label reports 1 to 4 beats per minute on average with the injection, and says findings were similar with the tablets. Same direction, similar size.
Should I stop exercising?
The label does not say so. It asks for the effect to be reported; what to do about it is your prescriber's decision.
