Wegovy pill level chart: how the pill builds up, day by day

The label gives each pill a half-life. This chart turns it into a curve: how the level climbs on daily tablets, what a missed morning costs, and how long the pill lingers after the last one. Tap the mornings. No sign-up.

How the chart is computed

One dose is added each morning the tablet is taken. Every day, the level decays by a fixed share set by the label's half-life: 2 to the power of minus one over the half-life in days. For the semaglutide tablets, with a half-life of about a week, that is 0.906 a day, so a missed morning costs about 9 percent. For Foundayo, with a half-life of 29 to 49 hours on its label, 1.6 days in the model, it is 0.65 a day, so a missed morning costs about 35 percent.

The plateau is where the morning dose equals the day's loss. The chart shows the level as a percent of that plateau, never in milligrams: the Wegovy label reports a wider spread of concentrations on the tablet than on the injection, and says absorption was higher after a longer wait before eating, so a milligram would be a guess. Each dose step starts a new climb to its own plateau; this chart draws one step.

From the label

With an elimination half-life of approximately 1 week, semaglutide will be present in the circulation for about 5 to 7 weeks after the last injectable dose of 2.4 mg or 7.2 mg or oral dose of 25 mg.

Wegovy prescribing information, §12.3, revised 06/2026. Foundayo: elimination half-life approximately 29 to 49 hours, steady state after approximately 1 week (Foundayo PI §12.3, revised 07/2026).

What to read on it

  • The climb: the semaglutide tablets take four to five weeks to settle on a strength, and their labels set steps of 30 days. In the model, day 30 sits at about 95 percent, and week three is still on the way up.
  • The dip: one missed morning is a small notch on the semaglutide curve and a deep one on Foundayo's. The two labels also give different missed-dose rules: skip it for the semaglutide tablets, take it as soon as possible for Foundayo.
  • The tail: stop the mornings and the semaglutide curve halves each week; the label says semaglutide is still present five to seven weeks after the last dose. Foundayo falls below 5 percent a week after the last tablet, in the model.
  • Every other day: an alternating schedule makes a sawtooth around a lower plateau. The label describes once daily and nothing else; a schedule is the prescriber's.

Questions people ask

How long does the Wegovy pill stay in your system?

The label gives semaglutide a half-life of about one week and says it is still present five to seven weeks after the last 25 mg tablet. In the chart, stop the mornings after week four and watch the curve fall by about half each week.

How long does it take the Wegovy pill to build up?

About four to five weeks on the same strength, on the Rybelsus label for the same tablet formulation. In the model, the level reaches 90 percent of its plateau on day 24 and 97 percent at five weeks.

What does one missed day do?

About 9 percent for the semaglutide tablets, in the model, and the gap then halves each week as the mornings resume. For Foundayo, with a half-life of 29 to 49 hours on its label (1.6 days in the model), about 35 percent, back above 90 percent three days after the tablets resume. The labels give different rules: skip the missed dose for the semaglutide tablets, take it as soon as possible for Foundayo.

Why is the chart in percent and not in milligrams?

Because the Wegovy label reports a wide spread on the tablet: 90 percent of patients on the 25 mg tablet had average concentrations between 27 and 186 nmol/L, against 51 and 110 nmol/L on the 2.4 mg weekly injection. It also says absorption was higher after a longer wait before eating. A percent of the plateau is what the label's numbers support; a milligram would be a guess.

Is this what the Oolite app shows?

For daily tablets, the same model on your own doses, drawn on your iPhone: each tablet you log, each dose step on its own scale, the dips after a missed day, a morning cut short counted as missed, and the days before your first log counted as taken. The app also draws a weekly curve for Wegovy and Ozempic pens, Zepbound, Mounjaro and Trulicity, from each label's half-life and time to peak. Oolite is free to download; the level comes with a paid plan, and the subscriptions start with a 14-day free trial.
