Can I cut the Wegovy pill in half?
No. The label says to swallow the tablet whole and not to split, crush, chew or dissolve it. The tablet only delivers 1 to 2 percent of its semaglutide as it is, thanks to a helper compound pressed with it, and a cut tablet is one the manufacturer never tested.

The short answer
No. The label says to swallow the tablet whole and not to split, crush, chew or dissolve it. The tablet only delivers 1 to 2 percent of its semaglutide as it is, thanks to a helper compound pressed with it, and a cut tablet is one the manufacturer never tested.
What the label says
From the labelSwallow tablets whole. Do not split, crush, chew or dissolve.
And, a line above it:
From the labelDo not take more than one tablet per day.
Between those two sentences the label rules out every way of improvising a dose: no half tablets to make a smaller step, no two tablets to make a bigger one.
Why the tablet is not just the drug
Semaglutide is a peptide, and the stomach is built to digest peptides. The tablet gets through by carrying a helper compound that protects the molecule long enough for a small share to be absorbed. The label puts that share at about 1 to 2 percent of the tablet. Everything about the morning rules, the empty stomach, the small sip of water, the 30 minutes, exists to protect that small share.
A cut tablet changes the object that was tested. The label does not say what happens, because the manufacturer did not measure it, and that is precisely the reason the label says not to.
What people actually do
The question comes up on the forums for two reasons: the price of a step, and the wish for a strength between two steps. People describe cutting a 4 mg tablet to make a gentler climb, or combining a 1.5 and a 4 to make something in between. Others answer, sometimes sharply, that the coating and the helper compound make the tablet all or nothing.
The label sides with the second group without the sharpness. For a step that is too much, it offers a longer stay on the previous one. For a price that is too much, it has nothing to say, and neither should a page like this one.
Oolite follows the strengths on the label and the schedule the prescriber wrote. There is no half step to log.
Questions people ask
I have 1.5 mg tablets left and my prescriber moved me to 4 mg. Can I take three?
No. The label says not to take more than one tablet per day. The remaining tablets are for your pharmacist to advise on, not for stacking.
Can I dissolve it in water if I struggle to swallow?
No. The label says do not dissolve. If swallowing is the problem, that is a question for the prescriber about the tablet itself.
Why does cutting matter if it is the same drug inside?
Because the tablet is not just the drug. It is pressed with an absorption enhancer that protects semaglutide in the stomach, and the whole thing was tested as one object. The label gives the tablet's bioavailability as about 1 to 2 percent. A broken tablet was not part of any study.
Is the Foundayo rule the same?
Yes. Its label says to swallow tablets whole and not to break, crush or chew.
