Hair loss on the Wegovy pill
It is on the label, at the bottom of the list: 3 percent on the injection against 1 percent on placebo, with the tablet trial reporting a similar profile. The Foundayo label, which reports it in more detail, ties hair loss to weight reduction itself rather than to the molecule, and finds it far more often in women.

The short answer
It is on the label, at the bottom of the list: 3 percent on the injection against 1 percent on placebo, with the tablet trial reporting a similar profile. The Foundayo label, which reports it in more detail, ties hair loss to weight reduction itself rather than to the molecule, and finds it far more often in women.
What the label says
The Wegovy side effect table ends with two lines, and hair loss is one of them.
From the labelHair Loss: 3 percent with WEGOVY 2.4 mg injection, 1 percent with placebo.
The tablet trial, the label says, found effects similar in type and frequency. That is all the Wegovy label offers: a rate, no cause, no course.
What the other label adds
The Foundayo label is more talkative on this line, and its sentence applies to the mechanism rather than to the molecule.
From the labelHair loss adverse reactions in FOUNDAYO-treated patients were associated with weight reduction.
It also gives the split: 7 percent of women on Foundayo against 0.9 percent of men, and 3 percent against 0.7 percent on placebo. The placebo figures are the useful ones. People lose hair on placebo too, when they lose weight, and women more than men.
What people actually do
Hair comes up on the forums a few months in, usually with a photo of a brush. The pattern people describe is shedding that starts weeks after a period of fast change and eases later, which fits what the Foundayo label says about the association. What people ask each other is whether to stop, and the honest answer from the labels is that neither one connects the shedding to the tablet itself.
The useful thing to bring to the prescriber is the timeline: the steps, the pace of change, when the shedding began. A dermatologist may ask the same.
Oolite's journal keeps that timeline. What to do with it is the prescriber's.
Questions people ask
Is it the drug or the weight change?
The Wegovy label lists hair loss without a cause. The Foundayo label says hair loss reactions were associated with weight reduction, which is the fuller answer available from a label: rapid loss of weight is a known trigger for shedding, whatever caused the loss.
Does it grow back?
The labels do not describe the course. Neither says it is permanent, and neither promises regrowth. That is a question for your prescriber, and possibly a dermatologist.
Is it more common in women?
The Foundayo label reports 7 percent of women versus 0.9 percent of men on Foundayo, and 3 percent versus 0.7 percent on placebo. The Wegovy label does not split it, but its trials were mostly women.
Can I do anything about it?
The labels do not offer a remedy. What people bring to their prescriber is the timing: when it started relative to the steps and to the pace of change. That is what a journal is for.
