Ozempic tablets dose steps: 1.5, 4 and 9 mg
Three strengths. Days 1 to 30 at 1.5 mg, a starting dose the label says is not effective for glycemic control. Days 31 to 60 at 4 mg. From day 61, either stay at 4 mg or move to 9 mg if more glycemic control is needed. Same morning rules as every semaglutide tablet.

The short answer
Three strengths. Days 1 to 30 at 1.5 mg, a starting dose the label says is not effective for glycemic control. Days 31 to 60 at 4 mg. From day 61, either stay at 4 mg or move to 9 mg if more glycemic control is needed. Same morning rules as every semaglutide tablet.
What the label says
From the labelOZEMPIC Tablets: Day 1 to 30: Recommended starting dosage is 1.5 mg orally once daily for 30 days (this dosage is not effective for glycemic control). Days 31 to 60: Increase the dosage to 4 mg orally once daily. On Day 61 or thereafter, if no additional glycemic control is needed, maintain the dosage at 4 mg orally once daily; if additional glycemic control is needed, increase the dosage to 9 mg orally once daily.
The shape is the Rybelsus schedule under new numbers: a first month that is an introduction, a second month at the first working strength, then a decision.
Why the label admits the first month does nothing
Every semaglutide label says the escalation exists to reduce the risk of gastrointestinal adverse reactions. The Ozempic tablets label goes one step further and says that the starting dose is not effective for glycemic control. It is honest about what the first month is: thirty days for the stomach to meet the molecule before the strength that matters.
The same mornings
The administration rules are the ones every semaglutide tablet shares: empty stomach in the morning, water up to 4 ounces and no other liquid, swallow whole, at least 30 minutes before food, drink or other oral medications, and a missed dose skipped rather than doubled.
What people actually do
People starting Ozempic tablets for type 2 diabetes read the first month's sentence with relief or frustration, depending on whether they expected numbers to move in week two. The forums for the tablet are smaller than the Wegovy pill's, and the questions overlap almost entirely: the morning, the coffee, the missed dose. The one specific question is the decision at day 61, and the label leaves it where it belongs, with the prescriber reading the glucose log.
Oolite counts the days on each strength, keeps the morning rules the same across the three semaglutide tablets, and accepts an old Rybelsus bottle at its equivalent strength.
Questions people ask
Why does the label say the first dose is not effective?
The 1.5 mg month is written for the stomach, not for blood sugar. The label says the escalation exists to reduce gastrointestinal adverse reactions, and it states plainly that the starting dosage is not effective for glycemic control.
Do I have to go to 9 mg?
No. The label says that on day 61 or after, the dose stays at 4 mg if no additional glycemic control is needed, and goes to 9 mg if it is. That is your prescriber's reading of your numbers.
How do these compare to Rybelsus?
1.5 mg replaces 3 mg, 4 mg replaces 7 mg, 9 mg replaces 14 mg, on the label's own switching table. The label also says the two tablets are not substitutable milligram for milligram.
Is there a 25 mg Ozempic tablet like the Wegovy pill?
Not on this label. The Ozempic tablets label stops at 9 mg. The 25 mg tablet is the Wegovy pill, a different product with a different indication.
