Ozempic tablets, from the label

The once-daily semaglutide tablet for type 2 diabetes, in US pharmacies since May 4, 2026. It replaces Rybelsus, with the same morning rules and half the dose numbers. Everything on this page comes from the prescribing information.

Written by DM, the one who read the label. Sources checked Sep 28, 2026.

How to take it

Every morning, on an empty stomach, with a sip of plain water, then at least 30 minutes before anything else. The same rule as Rybelsus and as the Wegovy pill.

The dose steps

Three strengths: 1.5 mg for days 1 to 30, 4 mg for days 31 to 60, then 4 or 9 mg. They match the Rybelsus strengths under new numbers, and the label says the two are not interchangeable milligram for milligram.

From the label

RYBELSUS and OZEMPIC tablets are not substitutable on a mg-to-mg basis. OZEMPIC Tablets: Day 1 to 30: Recommended starting dosage is 1.5 mg orally once daily for 30 days (this dosage is not effective for glycemic control). Days 31 to 60: Increase the dosage to 4 mg orally once daily.
